Mrs. Valerie Utecht - Principal

Valerie Utecht has worked in the Liberty Public Schools since 2001 serving as a teacher at both Ridgeview and Warren Hills Elementary Schools, and also as the Instructional Coach for Lillian Schumacher Elementary School. Mrs. Utecht has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska in Elementary Education and Special Education, and a master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University in Educational Leadership. Prior to coming to Liberty, Valerie has served in school districts in Nebraska, California, and Maryland.

Mrs. Shannon Thompkins - Assistant Principal

Mrs. Shannon Thompkins was born and raised in Washington, Missouri.  She received her Bachelors in Science Degree in Elementary Education from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO in 2002.  Her first teaching job took place with the Eldon R-I School District as a third grade teacher from 2002-2005.  During this time she worked on completed her Masters Degree with William Woods University and graduated in 2005 with a M.Ed in K-8 Education Administration. Mrs. Thompkins worked as a sixth grade math and science teacher at Oak Ridge Intermediate with the Camdenton R-III School District from 2008-2011.  In 2011 her family relocated to the St. Louis area where she worked as a Lead Faculty Area Chair in the College of Education with the University of Phoenix.  Additionally, she worked with the University of Missouri Columbia and served as a Fellowship Program Liaison; working with first year teachers completing their masters degree.   In 2014, Shannon graduated from Saint Louis University with an Education Specialist in Educational Leadership and is planning to complete her PhD in the near future from Saint Louis University.  Mrs. Thompkins took her first administrative role as an Assistant Principal at Dogwood Elementary in 2015 with the Camdenton R-III School District and has served in this role for two years.
