Purpose of the GKC Read Program

The GKC Read Program promotes reading by providing an annual Nominee List of quality books for students within the 2.8 - 4.8 reading range. Books on the GKC Read Nominee list are intended to introduce quality contemporary literature to students.

Process:  Students who read or have had read to them, at least four (4) titles from the master list will vote for his/her favorite.  Ballots  will be prepared for school librarians to distribute and collect from participating classrooms in March.  The author of the winning title will receive special recognition.

For this year's current list of nominees click here.  Students will be reading most of these on their own.
