TEN is an opportunity for elementary to high school students to have fun with technology. Students can also learn about the possibilities of technology and engineering based careers.

The event also seeks to inform parents about how these fields can be beneficial to their child for more than just a career.

Learning about technology can foster possible life skills that will help them in any field they choose.

The evening will also showcase projects by LPS students from Project Lead The Way (PLTW) and Technology Student Association (TSA)

When is TEN?

Tuesday, May 2nd 6:00pm-8:00pm Liberty North High School

Our second set of conferences is a Student-Led Conference.  "What's that?" you may ask.  During these conferences students get to actually lead the conference to showcase the work they've done.  The students share their progress and their goals.

Our Manor Hill students have spent a lot of time preparing for this evening. They are excited to share with you all that they've learned.  If you haven't heard from your child's teacher for a time, please get in touch with them.  Many teachers have put information about this evening in their Friday folders.

The PTA sponsored Book Fair will also be during this time period.

Our kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders are reading a Show Me Award nominee called Mogie: The Heart of the House by Kathy Appelt.  It is a story of a dog that lives at a Ronald McDonald House in Houston.  We talked about the point of the Ronald McDonald Houses and looked at the Kansas City program.  We've decided that we wanted to help them, so we are having a aluminum can tab drive.  Just by collecting aluminum can tabs, we can help those less fortunate!  Won't you help us?

As the end of the year approaches we would like to remind everyone of a few things regarding the student devices. All devices will be turned in at the end of the year and current kindergarten, first, third, fourth and fifth graders will receive their same device in the fall. If your child is attending summer school they will also receive the same device they are using now. The only exception would be incoming third graders and they will be issued a Chromebook, and it will be the same device they will use in the fall.

The second grade devices will be inspected with claims filed as needed and then issued to incoming kindergarten students. Seventh grade Chromebooks will be inspected and prepped for incoming third graders. For those parents with incoming third graders please note that the devices may have some scratches or other cosmetic blemishes but will be fully functional. The Chromebook lease will expire at the end of the 2016-2017 school year and the devices will be replaced at that time.

If you have outstanding claims we do ask that you try to resolve those as soon as you can. If you have a device that needs repairing, have your child let the classroom teacher know so the claim process can be started. We will not be thoroughly examining devices that will be returned to the same user in the fall. They should expect to receive the device in the same condition that it was turned in. Over the summer claims will be filed for any issues we do find. If you have any questions over the summer please contact the help desk at 736-7078.

Liberty Public Schools has made the decision to cancel classes for Tuesday, November 3, 2015, in order to allow our students, staff, and community to participate in the city-wide celebration of our world champion Kansas City Royals.

As today unfolded, we received significant feedback from staff, parents, and students saying they plan to be absent from school on Tuesday.  There was also concern of not having enough substitutes in classrooms to take care of our students; thus, we have come to this decision.

The LPS Kid’s Zone program will be held at Shoal Creek Elementary for those already signed up.  Operating hours will be 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.  For students involved in after -school activities, please check with your sponsor/coach for any possible schedule changes.

This day will need to be made up at the end of the year, now making your last day of school Monday, May 23, 2016.

It has recently been officially approved to appoint Kyle Race as our newest Team 61 member to replace Coach Hammond.  (Coach Hammond has moved to Smithville as the head basketball coach.)  Below is a little info Coach Race has written about himself. He is extremely excited to become a Patriot and we are pleased to have found such an enthusiastic educator with a passion for leaving a legacy.

"I was born and raised in the small town of Dardanelle, AR, home of the Sand lizards. After high school, I attended the University of Arkansas where I pursued a degree in kinesiology. While attending school, I met my future wife, Molly. After graduating, I moved to Kansas City and married my wife the following week. That following school year I worked for the Kansas City Kansas School district as a physical education aide. I also helped coach a pop warner football team in Liberty. The following year, I got the opportunity to coach football and track at Liberty North High school while starting my second year in the KCK school district.  In 2014 I was hired in the Liberty School district as a campus security monitor. I am now extremely grateful and excited to become a part of the Manor Hill team. I look forward to meeting everyone. Go Patriots!"

As we approach colder weather here a few facts that may help you with getting your child to school on time:

  • Breakfast eaters are allowed into the building at 7:30.
  • All others are allowed into the building at 7:35.
  • School begins promptly at 7:50.

If your child is a breakfast eater, please get him/her here plenty early so they are not rushed to get finished with their breakfast.  If you find you are waiting in the car rider line for a long time, and that is making your child tardy to class, try getting here a few minutes earlier.  It seems that this year, all car riders are arriving at exactly the same time!
